It was organized as an agricultural department at Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in 1898. Professor M.P. Chervynskiy headed the faculty. In 1903 was the first graduation of 32 scientist-agronomists. The head of examination board was D.I. Medvedev.
Kyiv Agricultural Institute was created on the basis of Agronomy Faculty (Dean Professor I.M. Shchogoliv) in Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in 1922. In 1923 it was independent higher educational establishment.
Faculty of agronomy in different time was headed by: Associate Professors Y.P. Manoylenko, V.Y. Kalyuzhniy, M.F. Khokhol, M.D. Ryzhutin, B.M. Podolich, A.K. Parkhomenko, Professors O.Y. Barabash, I.M. Gudkov, V.P. Gudz, S.P. Tanchyk, Assosiate Professor M.Y. Dmytryshak. Since September 2005, Doctor in Agriculture, Professor G.I. Demydas heads the faculty.
According to the state order and curriculum faculty trains Bachelors and Specialists by the specialties 7.130102 “Agronomy” and 7.130106 “Selection and Genetics of crops”, and also trains Masters, Candidates and Doctors of Sciences for Ukraine and foreign countries.

During existence the Faculty of Agronomy prepared more than 11 thousands of high qualified specialists (scientist-agronomists) for agricultural and industrial complex of Ukraine, and 300 for countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.
Educational activity
Now more than 700 students study at the faculty by the full-time, correspondence and external forms of study, in accordance with state order, and by the contract form.

Faculty is one of the leaders in Education and Research Institute of Plant Production and Processing, and also among agricultural high education institutions in Ukraine. Graduates from higher education institution with I and II accreditation levels have the possibility to study by the program with shorter period, or by the external form. More than 50 Departments of the University trains specialists.

Cultural activity
There are clubs by the interest (Faculty KVN team, club “Brain-ring”, chorus, dance ensemble, student scientific circles, sport sections), where many students practice.
During academic year thematic evenings, competitions, Olympiads, scientific conferences, sports competitions and other activity are carried out at the faculty. The brightest are: -

Students of the faculty are the active participants of all these activity. Among main achievements are first place in KVN championship of NAU in 2003 and 2004, annually prize places in competitions of amateur art activities, sports day of NAU on main kind of sports, second place in All-Ukrainian Olympiad on agronomy (Bila Tserkva), the winner was Sergiy Chornyy.

International relations
Faculty has scientific relations with leading foreign higher education institutions: -
In Europe: Belgium Ghent University; Germany Humboldt University;

In North America: the United States of America Iowa University, Minnesota University, Purdue University, Louisiana University.
Faculty takes part in the international project Tempus/Tacis "From soil to consumer" together with Ghent University (Belgium) and Humboldt University (Germany).
Every year 30-35 students have practical training at the farms in Great Britain, Switzerland, and Ireland. Masters and teacher-probationers study at Ghent University (Belgium) and Iowa University (USA). Scientists take an active part in the international conferences, symposiums and congresses.
