According to the order of Ministry of Agriculture of USSR Berezhany technical school of agriculture was founded.

Ministry of Agriculture of USSR renamed Berezhany technical school of mechanization of agriculture into Berezhany technical school of mechanization and electrification of agriculture.

By the common decision of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Agriculture and the foodstuffs of Ukraine Berezhany technical school of mechanization and electrification of agriculture was reorganized into the Berezhany agrotechnical college - higher educational institution of the second accreditation level with the right of training junior experts and bachelors.

Berezhany agrotechnical college was included in the structure of National Agricultural University of Ukraine.

According to the order of the Rector of National Agricultural University of Ukraine on the basis of Berezhany agrotechnical college agrotechnical institute was created. The Rector of institute became Vasyk M. Pavlivsky, Doctor in Engineering, Professor, Honorary Machine-Builder of Ukraine, Real member of Ukrainian Academy of Economic Cybernetics and Ukrainian Academy of Tribotechniques.

By the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine regulation from May 6, ¹434 agrotechnical institute was formed in structure of National Agricultural University. This year the accreditation of specialties and institute as a whole for the third level was carried out, and State Certification Committee issued the appropriate certificates.
There are 3 Faculties in the Institute, where over 4900 students, including the correspondent form of studying. 26 departments, which are the centers of educational, methodical and scientific work, departments of liberal education, pedagogy and students’ affairs, department of information and computer technologies, informational-publishing center "Innovation", and student’s sport club "Sokil" operate there. Informational places for training the specialists by educational and qualifying level "Bachelor" (correspondent studies) were established in the 12 towns of Western Region.
The institute consists of:
- 7 educational and laboratory buildings of the area of 14098 m2;
- 28 educational studies;
- 40 laboratories;
- 12 lecture studies;
- 2 studies of degree and course designing;
- 15 computer classes;
- informational-publishing center, equipped with copy and duplicating machines;
- educational-industrial workshops with such sections: metalwork, welding, turning, joiner's, forge, repairing of autotractor engines, electric motors, the fuel equipment, autotractor engineering;
- automobiles and tractors service station;
- vehicle testing point;
- sport and health-improvement complex;
- library with a reading-rooms for 120 places;
- student’s club;
- two hostels;
- student's cafe;
- concert hall.
The educational-methodical group of Military Training Faculty of National Agricultural University operates in the institute.
Studies and laboratories are modern equipped. Teachers widely use high technologies of training, which allows to provide high quality of experts’ training.
The institute carries out development and publication of the educational and scientific-methodical literature. The teaching staff is 234 lecturers, including 182 full-time persons with a wide experience of scientific and pedagogical work. Among them are 11 doctors and 60 candidates of sciences, 10 lecturers-methodologists, 43 lecturers gain their postgraduate study and are competitors. 7 doctors and 20 candidates of sciences from NAUU lecture in the institute.
Experts’ training by indicated specialties, students’ and population professional training, organization of student and faculty practical training abroad, informational scientific-consulting service of agricultural enterprises, publishing services, business activities, training services for students and population by the experts of the sports club "Sokil", students’ military training according to the officer programs, technical service of auto-tractor and agricultural machinery, international relations, etc.
Scientific and business contacts with European countries on the problems of regenerative energy sources, in particular of biogas and biodiesel oil, biological and biodynamic farming, ecology and environmental protection, forestry and park gardening, green tourism, mountaineering.
Scientific activities
Institute intensively conducts scientific and methodological, scientific and research work by such directions:
- increasing of a technological level of autotractor engines;
- alternative kinds of fuel;
- power-saving and increasing of electric equipment reliability;
- vibrotechnology in agriculture;
- interaction of soil and machine-tractor hardware during the work process;
- durability of machine equipment base details;
- natural and artificial factors effect on productivity of agricultural crops area sorts;
- scientific substantiation of increasing of managing economic efficiency at the enterprises of agrarian and industrial complex.
Students get practical skills on farms of Switzerland, Austria, Canada, the USA, Denmark, the Netherlands and England. More than 400 students and teachers had their practical training abroad during ten years of cooperation.
Educational work
Institute prepares experts, bachelors on full-time and correspondent forms of training in such specialties: -
Economics of Enterprise (in the fields of Agrarian and Industrial Complex (AIC));

The Institute also prepares qualified workers in such specialties:
- operator of computer printing;
- accountant of enterprise;
- master of agricultural production (farmer);
- automobile driver of categories B; B, C and C, D, E;
- tractor operator-machinist of broad profile;
- mechanic of control and measuring technique and automatics;
- mechanic - electrician;
- mechanic in repairing of autotractor engineering;
- seller of food and nonfood goods;
- secretary of the office manager.
Institute carries out experts’ retraining in different branches by all educational-qualifying levels.
In 2005-2006 were opened specialties of "Ecology and Environmental Protection" and "Forestry and Park Gardening".
Financing of studying is due to the state budget and means of natural and juridical persons.
The cost of full-time training is 1700-3000 UAH per year, depending on educational-qualifying level and specialty.
